Daphne Riddle, Licensed Professional Counselor

Hi, I’m Daphne. I’ve been a psychotherapist for over 15 years and a born-again believer since I was 10. Like many, my walk with Jesus was often not close and often did not resemble a Christian walk at all. But God is good, even in my absence He remains steadfast.
As He does, He used a massive storm I created in my life to draw me closer to Him and I have never felt such Peace and Love. As I reflect on the pain that I have experienced at different times in my life, I am in awe that I cannot even imagine experiencing that depth of pain again. Praise God for that. He is the only reason that I can say that.
Most of my counseling career has been from a secular stance, some was even from a new age perspective. But I believe True and Deep healing only comes through Christ Jesus. I know that’s a bold statement. But I stand on the Truth of Romans 8, “that all things work together for those who Love God, to those who are called according to HIS purpose.” Psalm 138:3 tells us that he hears us, “On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.”
Now, as I counsel from a biblical world view, my prayer is Colossians 2, to walk with clients as we receive Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, be firmly rooted and built up in Him and established in our faith, just as we were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude; that our hearts will be knit together in love, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy principles and a Christian perspective, we will explore and reconcile the beliefs, thoughts, and emotional reactions that cause us strife in this world. Walking towards Peace in Christ Jesus, our relationships with self and others can improve and thrive.
I work with a variety of clients, age 12 to 112, individuals, couples, parents, singles, married, professionals, students, and probably others. I offer in-office counseling but will consider virtual counseling on a case-by-case basis. I also provide equine assisted psychotherapy at a barn in Sanger.
My path to helping and caring so deeply for others became evident as I completed my undergraduate degree in criminal justice at The University of North Texas. At that time, I began working with at-risk youth and adolescents that were already entering the criminal justice system. A winding road of working in juvenile justice eventually took me to the Texas Youth Commission where I worked with some of the most violent adolescents in our communities, and some of the most extraordinary. I later entered graduate school at Texas Woman's University and earned a Master's of Science in Counseling and Development. After successfully completing the national licensing exam, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Career Counselor, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Since becoming a licensed counselor I have worked with adults, families, senior adults and adolescents with a myriad of struggles and concerns, some of which include depression, anxiety, grief, sexual abuse, physical abuse, self-harm, personality & dissociative disorders, professional stagnation, and communication & relationship struggles.
I base my counseling techniques in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, a type of Cognitive Therapy, that explores the beliefs we assign and the emotional and behavioral responses that result from those beliefs. This path has brought me to new adventures and interests including Equine Assisted
Psychotherapy. What I have learned is that interactive experiences bring us to greater depths of healing. Horses provide a unique perspective for us to see more clearly our beliefs and how we interact with others, our environments, and ourselves.
My goal is to work with clients who desire positive change and growth within themselves and in their relationships. I look forward to entering into counseling relationships that are challenging and provide opportunities for healing, growth and peace.
If you would like to begin your journey towards healing and growth, please call me at 940-395-3009. My office is located in Denton, TX, conveniently located in Denton County, just a short drive from Lewisville, Flower Mound, Keller, Southlake, Roanoke, Argyle, Valley View, Aubrey and many other communities.
